Games themed around... Romance! And Tax Fraud!

And try to make it funny! Your game might be janky, ridiculous, or even outright bad! That's half the fun! You have a week; of course, it won't be perfect!

Rules:

  • While the jam 'starts' on May 15th, we're opening the floor early! Just make sure most of the work happens for this jam—please no submitting old, finished projects!
  • This entire jam is for fun! Be sure to be a good sport and have a good time!
  • Please hold off on NSFW,  just since I'd like to play these on stream.
  • You must use one of the two themes! Even if it's just a little nod, but you'll be rated on theme usage so it's best to make it a core part!
  • Please specify if you're using GenAI, just tagging it on itch should be fine. Just be sure to keep it to placeholders, we value human jank over AI slop! Though we understand not everyone can draw.

Bonus Challenges:

  •  Mention Craig by name, and do it with DISTAIN. (I don't know a craig, it's fair game)
  • Have a character rant about something pointless and absurd.
  • Include any reference to the IRS. Anything.
  • Include at least one UI element or menu written in Comic Sans or Papyrus, but make it neon green.
  •  All sound effects must be recorded using only your mouth (e.g., saying "Bang!" for a gun, "Vroom!" for a car)

  • Wait, That Was Hard? - Best use of the hard but trivial bonus challenge. 
  • Majestic Jank - Most charmingly broken, or scuffed game. 
  • Love in The Air- Best use of the fish theme. 
  • Somebody Get Me an attorney! - Best us of the tax fraud theme. 
  • You Made WHAT in Seven Days? - Most conventionally polished project. 
  • High Achieving Spittake - Funniest game. 

Rewards:

Rewards are bragging rights and a mention in the next jam's front page because the studio budget is zero dollars.

Winners will be announced at the end of the voting period!
