Hello Neighbor Pre-Alpha
A downloadable pre-alpha for Windows
Can you trust the one who lives next door?
This is the pre-alpha for the indie stealth horror game, Hello Neighbor.
This alpha truly does show the game in a much simpler yet far scarier time. Y'know, before all of the cartoony family-friendly platformer bullshit came in and fucked up the entire game for good.
This pre-alpha, of course being an incredibly early build of game, does not have much content. The house featured in this build, while it may look pretty damn big on the outside, only has one finished and accessible floor for you to explore, and this alpha can be beaten incredibly quickly as long as you know where needed items are.
This is the build of the game that really made the game go from "random ass indie game literally nobody knows about" to the most popular thing on the internet back in 2016. It's sad how this game started falling off the moment alpha 3 came out...
You'll certainly have a bit of fun and maybe a few spooks here and there while you play this. Fair warning, there are many loud noises and other scary things inbound.
Of course, being an extremely early playtest build of the game (and since it's Hello Neighbor), expect a shit load of bugs. Seriously. It's pretty much impossible to play through the whole thing without experiencing any bugs or glitches. This build also has a tendency to crash, so if your game crashes then you know why.
Also, The Neighbor's AI in this build is... odd, to say the least. It's not too terrible, but it's quite basic and repetitive, and has a whole truck load of bugs and glitches with it that can cause it to act... very strangely, sometimes.
Before I stop yapping, you may be asking, "why the hell is this here when the alpha is literally on Steam?" To that I say, I'm just archiving it. Nothing more.
Have fun!
Oh, and one more thing. This alpha, and literally ONLY this one, was designed in a different resolution than good old fashion 16:9. Because of this, the game may look a bit stretched in terms of width when you play. It's not that bad, and there's probably a way to fix it (only if you're comfortable with black bars being on the sides of your screen). The screenshots I took for this page seemed to automatically squish into the game's base resolution, so if you want to know what I'm talking about, look at the screenshot's resolution. That's the game's resolution.

I have an idea, what's your discord?
pre alpha on itch.io is crazy
I know... but hey, I just wanna archive it.
now no offense but theres a demo ver on steam thats just pre alpha
but atleast its not just steam now
I know that. I just want to archive this since the game was peak before they fucked everything over, and knowing TinyBuild, they could get rid of it at any moment.
how do u even archive the game file? Also, it keeps crashing when i open it
Archiving it in this sense just means I zip up the game files and host them here on Itch in case the original Steam upload is taken down. As for the game crashing? No idea what could be causing it, sorry.
