In the Deep Forest

One day in March I discovered this song I wrote for my fictional band, The Sleepover at Invisible College, that I had absolutely no memory of writing, with rhymes and meter and everything. So then I drew this series of illustrations for it.  I am not a musician, so I have no idea what it might sound like. But here are the lyrics:

In the deep forest
We went to get lost and play
I had to get out of the city
You had to show me the way

We built a church in the forest
We dreamed our own gods of the green
We let our eyes burn up with wonder
For things they had already seen

Scared of the wild forest
We dammed up a river for light
The earth got angry and left us
At last we made peace with the night

And we lived in the forest
Like we were one with the land
You hair growing moss was more lovely
And me with the knife stuck in hand

In the deep forest
We tried to get lost and we found
In sun and the rain and starlight
We danced till we went under ground
