I have another question - Not sure where else to ask, how did you find making this in Phaser? Good, bad? Would love to see how a title like this is built, quite new to JavaScript myself so very curious!

After I made this, I got a job making phaser games and I have been employed doing it ever since.  So, it worked out well for me.  Let me know if you have specific questions I can answer about it

Curious what made you choose it for a project like this? Compared to other engines at the time. What were the main pitfalls and benefits, did you ever do a post-mortem once the project had stopped? Would love to read one!

I have not touched it in along time but I saw the Phaser 4 notes and it looks impressive, I used Construct 3 with some JavaScript/Typescript.

I was messing around with WebRTC before I started this and I wanted to make a game with it.  As far as I know, this was the first ever p2p WebRTC  game ever made when it was first demoed in early 2015.  I chose Phaser because it was an up-and-coming engine for the browser.  I made browser games before, but with java applets.    Phaser was easy to use and surprisingly performant.  No regrets.

That’s awesome to hear, natural path it seems for you! I am actually pretty excited to see what the latest version of Phaser will offer once it is released.

Appreciate the responses, I am always soo curious about these types of projects, especially in frameworks like Phaser.

game doesn't start for me :S

Same Its just white

Should work again

Thanks for reporting.  Was my domain lock.  It should work again

np. also i cant start a lobby in multiplayer.
is netplay down?

The network server is not up.   Do you have someone to play with?   I will put it up if you do.  Otherwise you will wait forever for an opponent

yeah i was thinking about trying it with a friend tomorrow night. but its fine. i already enjoy this game singleplayer. its cozy and cute and satisfying imo :D

You can play multiplayer at http://scs.laxviking.com/   I need to do some more work to get it working from itch

Is this project done and dusted? Remembered it after many years!

There is no active development.  I will fix problems if people report them.   I have heard a little birdy chirping that the designer is toying with SCS 2 as a 3D game in Unity.   I am not involved, though.

I appreciate the response! Was little nostalgic checking in on it, can’t say I like 3D compared to this one, but hope it goes well for that team (:

Can I have a download link? Because the browser version has too large a game window, which is why you have to scroll through the game window, this greatly interferes with the game. I also agree with the person from the comments, you can try to optimize game for phones and release the game in the Play Market

hello, can you make this on mobile please, this game looks fun but I don’t have a pc

Beatiful game, one question though, why there's no pause button?

(+2)

"P" to pause.  Thanks for your comment :-)

Love this game

Glad you like it!  Comments like this make it all feel worthwhile :-)

is netplay on?

No it is not on anymore, sorry.  We can fix it if there is enough interest but there are just not enough players looking for it now

well you might as well keep it on in case players might wanna fight with friends once in a while

Okay I made an update with difficulty levels and turned multiplayer back on.

I just get a black screen.

What platform are you playing on, @Shanglion

windows 10

Thanks.  Which browser are you using?

I was playing it off the itchio app.

I find the AI to be forgiving. I look forward for adjustable AI, at least by diffiiculty. As well as being able to pick a faction.

For AI, I think they should have some delay when picking production. Like literally a second. They are quick to swarm me. Also, the camera pan should be supported by WASD key.

Still, I like the concept. Its like playing a streamlined Company of Heroes, where they can focus on capturing points and rallying forces. I wish I can build defenses though.

Adjustable AI is now available in 3 flavors,  "Difficult", "Really Hard", and "OMG"

Great game, it reminds me a lot of the classic advance wars. I wish there was a download

Esta bueno el juego

The map has a bug. The bottom of the map is unreacheable when you got out of fullscreen.

ooooo weee cant wait for that netplay

We disabled it due to a lack of people playing multiplayer.  Do you want us to turn it back on, @sungorth?

cool you had it running!  def hard to gauge audience usage

Netplay is now back on

Please turn it back on! I'm looking for free little games to play online with friends, and this is a perfect candidate. Also, I f&%$ing love Advance Wars?!

Netplay is now back on

Oh hell yeah! I'm gonna try it out tonight!

Alright, so the CPU on easy is still pretty tough, and maybe I just don't know the controls but: 1) is there a way to scroll the map besides clicking in the bottom-left mini-map? 2) is there a way to select which troops to build without clicking?

I just can't move fast enough to counter the enemy otherwise.

The AI can now be set to easy mode.  I will work on a way to bail out of a game in progress...

AI is way too hard to keep up with

The AI is now adjustable in three flavors

I played advance wars for yeeeears when i was a kid

SADLY THE ONLINE DOES NOT WORK  sorry caps lock

Netplay is now back on

Its like advance wars meets the bitmap brothers Z

Look awesome, but some mechanics of turn based advance wars are felt really bad. Really hard to play.

Very Nice Game. Selection should be more visible.

I feel the whole mechanic of Advance Wars was ignored when this was created.

If you want a RTS, make one.

Turn based strategy is an entire different genre, with a whole different way of approaching things.

Trying to force the two together just makes an overcomplicated mess.

nice game, you are a fan of Advance wars dont you? :)

Great game! The AI plays really well so it's challenging and it's very well presented. Congratulations!
