Heavy Is Our Crown contains textual portrayal of physical and mental child abuse, internalised homophobia, and violence. There is also a scene with visual gore.

The characters have an astounding depth to them. The way they talk, how they react to each other, it's all so refined. The reveal of the mirror was completed unexpected, but worked into the story so well. (The animation!) Flipping back and forth (a bit too much imo) and their manner of speech reflecting their timelines and contexts kept me hooked. I think the story felt a bit flat, despite being such beautifully written. But overall, this was definitely an experience.

Heavy Is Our Crown is a beautiful, heart-rending tale that I was enraptured by. The presentation is gorgeous, the parallax effects, the mirror transitions, they were all wonderfully implemented and realised, and the music and sound effects were lovely. But the story is the real star here, depicting two realistic characters in a conversation over time that broke my heart. A fantastic visual novel in it's own right, not just as a game jam entry, the team should be very proud of it.
