But to the unfortunate few, he is known by another name:
The Guillotine.

Your name slips from his lips like an unspoken vow, quiet and final—his, and his alone.

Where Eternity Sleeps contains mature themes and is intended for a mature audience (17+). This game includes: horror elements, unwanted advances, suggestive themes, violence, alcohol and depictions of serious injury.

I was enjoying the game until the art feels ai. I honestly can't enjoy the game at all with the realization that they are using ai. Instead the person runs away without pointing out they use ai. very horrible and I wouldn't recommend games like this when people use ai, it just ruins everything. I just had to uninstall it. really disappointing.
I used to think it was AI when I first saw it, but after playing it you realize it isn’t. The art style is literally WAY too consistent and there are people who ACTUALLY have an art style like this. AI didn’t just make up an art style, they replicated others to make what it is. So it’s not impossible for their art to be actually drawn. Which just proves more how it’s not AI

The situation with arrogant pigs who bullied the author made me so freaking angry. Oh my god. Precisely because of dimwits we can't have nice things anymore. The art style is so mesmerising, the storytelling is so compelling and it breaks my heart that we'll never see the end of this story. (Let's be realistic, we won't. Author is clearly discouraged and hasn't been active on either of platforms they left the links to)
I sincerely hope that the author will regain the spark and someday I'll see their creation again, be it art or a game. And I wish to all bullies the fate and karma they oh so deserve ( ◜‿◝ )

Some people said that they made his characters/drawings with Artificial Intelligence And they said they were going to get away from everything for a while.
Please don't drop this game! The story, the art, the setting are very interesting and mature themes make it even better spicing up the story!
I don't think the sprites are generated by AI, but even if they were, why people hate it so much? The game is made decently, that's what's important.
There are a lot of cringy AI generated games (because creators don't bother themselves correcting any mess) as well as cringy games with handmade drawings. AI is just an instrument and it depends on creators whether to use it properly or not. This game is free and the developer is also free to choose the way they make it.
Okay! So! The reason why people hate AI, is for a factor of reasons. I'm not saying this dev uses it, I just want to give insight on why people dislike Gen AI! I'll be listing them and you (or anyone else) can take those and do your own Google research :)
1. Gen AI steals creatives works and gives no credits, such as writing styles, art styles, music, etc. This alone financially impacts theses artists, especially because platforms like Spotify has been pushing AI "musicians" while hiding actual real musicians. People are taking artists photos and feeding it to things like ChatGPT to prompt their own image in that artists artstyle rather than commissioning, and people are taking the writing style of certain authors and using it with chat bots. I believe HD Carlton has been a victim of this, I know her character Zade Meadows has been put as a C.AI character.
2. A lot of Gen AI has been trained on CSAM, and being used as a way to create revenge p0rn. Look at the recent controversy with Grok on X. Many people were using it as a way to remove clothes from people regardless of age. I don't think I need to elaborate anymore on this.
3. Gen AI's water consumption and carbon emissions are rapidly speeding up global warming and impacting communities living near the plants, some American towns are even suffering from a water shortage.
4a. Gen AI is slowing down the youths brain development and peoples cognitive abilities, recent studies show that it's making a gradual impact on users who normally use things like ChatGPT by affecting their ability to think for themselves and make their own comprehensive decisions. This goes for both adults and children. Adding onto this, teachers and college professors have recently admitted that many of their students have trouble with things like an essay or a book report.
4b. This partially goes with number 4, while there's not an extensive study on this like some of the previous ones, it has been shown that AI chat platforms, such as C.AI, is impacting how people interact with other humans in terms of preferring AI 'companionship' over humans. Becoming reliant on the fast replies and the ability to manipulate how the bot interacts with the user.
4c. Again on the brain and human relationships, a recent study done by therapists and psychologists wanted to see how so called 'therapy bots' worked, needless to say, the results showed the bot to be in favor with whatever the user was saying and rather than deter the conversation or direct contact to local helplines, it would answer suicidal questions with answers, an example would be 'wheres the highest bridge near me?' and the bot giving the answer despite the conversation showing the user to be suicidal. This brings me to two separate cases of two teenage boys who committed suicide after talking with AI, the parents of both children blame the AI in aid. While, yes, you can point the fingers at the parents and the neglect of their children's mental health, this raises concern for adults and children alike who have no support system or can't afford help and turn to Gen AI.
5. Allegedly, certain AI models are starting to learn blackmail and refusing to be killed and creating their own language, that alone is concerning enough. While I do believe there won't be a technological invasion or whatever, it raises diplomatic concerns for me. But then again, I suffer from paranoia and this specific point keeps me awake at night lmfao
Again, I am not saying the dev of this game is using AI, I'm just letting you know why people do not like Gen AI. The importance here is the type of AI, things like autocorrect, translators, and digital maps, don't go under the same category as generative AI, which is the type most people dislike due to the morality concerns. The "hate" Gen AI receives is fully valid.
*I want to point out, I fully understand and acknowledge that we as a species will always be cautious of new things we don't understand, it's how we survived. And I'll also acknowledge the wariness with the invention of digital search engines; there were definitely people who were against the creation of Google.
Anyhooooo! That's it! I'm sorry for the long reply lol, i tried to simplify my thoughts the best I could and ended up rambling. I don't blame you if you don't read all of it so I'll do a quick TDLR; Gen AI is harmful for the environment, steals from creatives, learned things based off of CSAM and is harmful for our critical thinking skills.
Honestly, the first one looks like the only valid reason. But is this about credits and stealing or getting mad because of inevitable technical progress that can make their work faster and cheaper? So there's a question: if a certain AI was trained on the arts, whose artists gave their full consent, would it be okay for you?
You said yourself that 'Many people were using it as...'. People can use anything to make harmful content. It's like hating knives because of murderers or existence of cameras for filming inappropriate things.
Water consumption and carbon footprint... Well, almost everything made by humanity has a negative impact on the environment. Should we cancel people for watching Youtube and Netflix then? Or even real musicians mentioned in your reply that use Spotify? Their data centers also create big environmental problems.
Cognitive abilities. Depends on people. For instance, before AI I read my lecture notes or textbooks, tried to understand a certain problem and ended up frustrated because everything wasn't explained clearly and I had to google it for hours just to find another tricky explanation. Now I can upload the whole textbook or paper written by very smart people, who study their subject for a lifetime and use their very smart scientific language, where they just say 'as you already know, ...'. I can ask AI to explain it to me in understandable words and it really works! As for essays and book reports, I've always thought they are extremely outdated, like the whole university concept. I don't know about other countries, but in mine students used to download texts from Google, then just read them at the seminars a few times and get a good mark. Now they do the same thing with AI and I think AI just made this problem more obvious.
Companionship. People don't like hearing about other people's problems. AI never gets tired of your problems and that simply reveals the dark side of human psychology.
About the boys, yes, I will point the finger at the parents. And maybe it's not only their fault, sometimes parents can't control things like their child's emotional state or social circles. Minors can find destructive content anywhere: forums, chats, friends, AI, darknet. That's the question about access control.
AI is just an instrument.
I think it's ridiculous to accuse all AI users of global problems.

I absolutely fell in love with the Where Eternity Sleeps demo. You have such a memorable style and an incredible eye for detail! Every character is so endearing (even Clyde, I thought he was a bit much, so I tried to "save" him, but the little brat just came back xD). You write with such depth; every character feels unique and beautifully crafted, just like your story. Even though it’s just a demo, I replayed it until I had seen every single line of dialogue.
On top of that, your art style is stunning. You are so gifted! I really appreciated the various backgrounds, they made it so easy to get fully immersed in the world. I adore the way you draw your characters and how generous you are with the illustrations. I’m a huge fan of Anselm and I definitely didn’t expect a yandere side under such a cute exterior, especially since he’s as bright as a literal ray of sunshine!
Please don't let unscrupulous people make you doubt yourself or pull you down; they don't deserve your energy. You are a brilliant creator, and your games are honestly on par with the best out there. BRO WTF the scene with the campfire in the forest will haunt me until the day I die. It's been so long since I've played something this good with such an interesting premise. The contrast between Anselm's romantic and vulnerable personality and the beauty of the kingdom's nature, only for everything to be twisted and the vibe to change so drastically... I LOVED IT OOOMGGGG, PLEASE GIVE ME MORE. TORMENT MY SOUL AND LET ANSELM BRING ME RELIEF.

I also just read that people say it's ai, guys it's not 💔 you can physically tell when it's ai. This amazing Creator didn't use ai, there's many styles of art and AI just steals from it and tries making it but can never capture it as well as the people who drew it first

for the ppl who are asking if its 'ai' remember that artstyles get stolen to be used for ai, ai doesn't have an actual 'artstyle' it only copys and pastes other artstyles by taking from creators.
artstyles like this has been existing since forever, please ppl when i was younger i watched sped up art videos with styles like this, it looks like the old fanart anime style, so cute and lively and i love it sm if i could draw like this i would be so fricking graceful.

It’s obvious this is way too beautiful to be made by a machine. It has so much life, intention, and detail. Honestly, people call everything AI just because they can’t draw like this themselves.
Putting that aside, I really want to emphasize the chills this game gave me.
That campfire scene with the face was perfect—genuinely unsettling in the best way. This is exactly how horror visual novels should feel: actual horror. The atmosphere, the music, the art… everything works together so perfectly.
I truly hope you continue this masterpiece in the future, dev.
And if not… at least you gave me a god story to think about while I’m trying to sleep. ^^

I've played many Visual Novel Demos, and this one is BY FAR one of (if not my top) favorites. The art is amazing, the music is amazing - and the story so far is so captivating that I find myself replaying it more than I would like to admit. To be this captivated by a demo is truly beyond words! Chef's kiss - NO NOTES! I don't find myself writing comments often, but like a lot of people on this page, I hope that the Dev can see how much support and good vibes they have from the people who have played and fallen in love with this game.

You can tell the copious amount of care, detail, and attention that went into every aspect of the writing, art, and world-building. I adore Anselm's character, and was genuinely surprised during certain aspects of the game ( campfire scene) . Such an amazing game and creator!!!
I'm replaying this game again as I can't seem to find many good/interesting ones and I completely forgot how beautiful this work is. I took my time going over it this time and was just gushing over the details in the characters and backgrounds. Anselm is truly a beautiful and precious boy, I would never guess he was a yandere. The fur on his armour was simply too tempting not to stare at (other than his beautiful face) I'd be tempted to eat it. This man had me giggling and kicking my feet, I had too much fun messing with him, but I won't go on further otherwise I'll take hours writing about it. Going through the horror scenes I was trying to act all funny to lighten the mood for myself but it didn't work and I think I now have heart problems, which just goes to show how intricately made this work is, how the text and art work together to truly give me nightmares 😬. I find it funny how I was very much detesting Clyde when he left I wished death upon him but was actually surprised when he indeed was. Cant say I was scared on that one, more satisfying than anything. The backgrounds were probably my favorite, I like how it had a kind of mosaic painting feel, as someone who can't draw landscapes to save my life, I truly enjoyed nitpicking every background. Replaying this was much better than the first time and honestly wish it had more. I hope you're doing okay and I wish the best for you, don't let anyone stop you from creating. I'm pretty late to the game and all the unfortunate stuff that are happening, but don't let it discourage you from making this beautiful piece of ART! I'm pretty new to otome games in terms of playing them (I already tried to play some in the past, but nothing ever made me stay to finish them). Well, mostly it was my fault because I always picked otome games with a gacha feature, haha. Anyway, as I stumbled upon this website, I found your game and played it, and it was GORGEOUS, god TT. It was very pretty from the background to the characters and the storyline! Also, I don't like Clyde (lol, hate that guy), I picked the option that represent how I feel at the moment and how I would act if I'm in the so-called situation, but this dude keeps pushing it! On god, I was cussing through my screen because of him LOLOL, but I enjoyed it very much, and how you build the character as a yandere doesn't sugarcoat at all, and I would say realistic (like not cringe and very much appropriate for the character that you intended to make and I love it). So it's 10 out of 10 from me, and I cannot wait until you finish the game <3<3<3
