Note: Game can slow down on browsers when there are a lot of physics objects on screen in the late game. You can disable shine shader and particles in the options, which should help. But sadly there's only so much that can be done for browsers. Game runs way better on desktop.

Note: Game auto-pausing when the tab loses focus is a really annoying "feature" of GM GX WebAssembly that I cannot disable. Which is a real shame for a game like this. You can try tricking it, or playing on the desktop version where there is no pausing and the performance is also a lot better.

Note: If you see weird aspect ratio, resolution or pixel artifacts/glitches, toggle HD mode ON/OFF (F4) and it should fix them. I suggest doing this every time you start playing on a browser.

Note: This is a demo in development. I am posting updates frequently, based on your feedback, as the game is being built, polished, optimized and getting ready for the full release.

Master the dwarven ways of treasure extraction! This game is about making numbers go up, but the way you do that is open to your interpretation and ingenuity. At your fingertips:

  • Many buildings and dwarves, each with various strengths and weaknesses, such as dynamite throwers, ballistas, flamers, laser cannons, spelunkers, runesmiths, alelords, bulldozers, gyrocopters and more!
  • Acquire countless upgrades and cast active rituals to buff your dwarves and their machines
  • Collect 100+ ancient artifacts and display them in your gallery, each with build-shaping effects
  • Unlock 90+ prestige upgrades to replay, accelerate progress, and discover new synergies
  • Spend rare resources like mithril and mountain souls on tough choices
  • Uncover what the gods have hidden beneath the world spire—and what happened to those who dug too deep

Regarding demo content:

  • This demo shows a lot of the core game content. You can reach the first end goal at level 50, which is achievable in up to 1-3 hours. The full game will expand the end goals to level 100+ and add more bosses, damage/prestige-checks, objectives and content. However, in the demo you can keep playing endlessly after level 50, and to experience all the demo content it can easily take you dozens and dozens of hours.
  • Demo has 10 types of buildings which produce 12~ types of dwarves. Each building has on average around 14 upgrades. The full game will have at least 3 more buildings and 5 more types of dwarves. As well as more upgrades and tiers. (Some of these are already teased in the demo but aren't purchasable.)
  • Demo has 83 artifacts and 70 tiered prestige upgrades. The full game will have many more.
  • Demo has around 22 calamities and 5 monster dens. The full game will have many more, including bosses.
  • The full game will have steam achievements and hopefully as much language localization as possible.

You will update the game on steam as well or only at release?

(+1)

will the demo / full game be mac compliatable?

also what are the n/a upgrades?? i see them but cant upgrade and i cant seem to figure out how to unlock (treasure hunter being an example)

N/A upgrades mean they're not available in the demo

Sadly no. I do not have a Mac and unfortunately compiling on Mac without a Mac is very difficult. Additionally only 1% of steam users use Mac (compared to at least 2.23% for Linux which is also drastically easier to compile for).

(+1)

Insane good game, I played 1h and I will stream him pretty soon on twitch.

Hi! Love the game so far! actually very addicting >.<

I ran in to problem then I was ascension-"leveling", that I have not seen mention on thin forum. I was hoping to brake the game in a satisfying way with ridiculous numbers and procenteges. I was getting to ascension 30+ with 477 points in t6 for demodwarfs and 324 for gold.

BUT then I ascended at some point after 34(33?) my ascension count (and the added effects to the t6 prestige) reset back to 0 (or 1). Its the same savefill as I still have all my t6 prestiges. I tried to restart the game if it was a visual bug but it it was not. Im on the latest steam version on Linux, if that is relevant.

Then Im here anyway Id like to ask you to please implement an option to auto-close artifact panel on pickup. doing a lot of ascensions or Prestegses and having to click on the pane was not reasonable so I always left them open blocking the view of buildings.

Also like to suggest a presteg/es to auto start with more building. (Mostly to reduce repetitive clicks)  perhaps only for the forge and science ones, maby the spelunker one would also fit.

I saw the discussion about late game rock collection, and would like to add that I found it disappointing that gorilla arms was caped at 30%. I would have liked gorilla arms to be a viable lard scale collection method, but I found it was not keeping up late game. It was not consistent so it would contently spill over to the guzzler. realizing there was no huge downside to having a constant pile of rock I started to skipping the middle step and only relying on the guzzler. Very late game this is natural as much is flying very close to you buildings or right into them (witch is also satisfying to have a constant rain of gems and gold) but early game the guzzler can just work with Calemeteis and occasional called earthquake. making the runners obsolete.

Yes unfortunately there's a really stupid bug in the demo where after 30 it resets your ascension :/

Yup the option to auto-close artifact reveal panel already exists in my build! :)

Gorilla Arms were firstly capped to 30% so it's visually more pleasing to throw big piles, but it also became clear how strong it is if every single ore is just immediately thrown, basically making runners never move again. Which honestly at that point is totally fine, and I'll be adding an upgrade that allows you to scale past the 30%.

The thing with guzzler is true, but not sure what I can really do about it? Even with no guzzler, you can eventually create a giant pile of gems that just flow like a river straight into the maw, removing the need for any collectors...

Thanks for the feedback!

Cool! Looking forward to the update/release ^^

Well depending on where the rock lands some transport are less needed. Extraction with more force will naturaly faver the guzzler. But that is a late game thing with only demos atm.

I really like the idea of insted of carying the rocks to the ege of the maw - just throw it in! I am looking to reach a good flow of rocks there they are not pailing up, and no losses to the recleam of the mounten. Having the gozzilatrigger be more then 30% will probably be recuierd for one to move the volume of rocks by that point. I would not mind that the loop of the runners changes and start standing still instead, but I do se the apeal of the super speedy dwarf :>

And to have an evolotion or progresion of how one handel this fundamental part of the game is realy cool and can be very satesfying. So its not inherently a bad thing someing becomes obselite or changes beond recogneshion.

I do still use runners in my longer runners to clear the smaler amount of rocks that fal short. And if the runners was just stuck to the midel I would probably use the "tanks" to clear the rest. (plus the added air suport would probably be nice)

I got the idea just now that what if gorilla and rino upgrades was diffrent branshes and one had to chose between one of them. That would make it poseble to make them induvidualy stronger and also have the player be able to chose. OR the upgrades could be made in to there respected type of syborg-runner, costing one existing runner to "recrut". But this might conflict more with plans tho idk.

(+1)

My dwarf just saw a meteor of pure gold, caught it with his own beard and brought it home. All while skating on steam-powered skates.
10 skating dwarves out of 10!

I'm not sure what other have put but here are some things I have found that may or may not be intended:
With the 2 "overflowing" artifacts, you double your gold every 1.5 hours from interest. This is basically the only way to get any increase in money late game (1 trillion+).
The tier 6 prestige upgrades are kind of unbalanced because there is no use in separating your PP on all 6 different types, its better to just sink them into one because there is no increase in price as you upgrade them. I only upgraded the demodwarfs because they are overpowered for some reason and now every gold I spend on those demo dwarfs are multiplied by those PP I put in (also I spent some on upgrading coins but other than those 2)
Ascending is also kind of overpowered because if I have the 200 starting PP and then gain 50 more and then Ascend its like I have bought half of my tier 6 upgrades again, meaning If I have 500 tier 6 upgrades and then basically get 50 PP and Ascend I can get what's equivalent to 250 upgrades (or 1500 PP worth of upgrades)
Also the runners have winged cloud slippers with skates and rocket attachments on their robo-rhino feet and apparently they do some weird stuff to elven feet while they rest so idk what's going on there. They are completely useless however because the demodwarfs act as a constant earthquake plus that guzzler thing means I get all the gold. The gold is useless however because I only get money increases from the interest.
When buying stuff that is 1 billion or more it shows up as 1000m which I guess is just late game being weird and me playing the demo too far, but when I get 1 scientist per 35 calamities and 1.8 calamity multiplier it ends up being some real large number. The gold doesn't do this however so maybe you just haven't gotten to it idk.
Having more than 100 mithril or unemployed dwarfs makes them overlap the icon. Kinda annoying, but also the only reason I have that many is because I can't spend them anyways so it doesn't matter.
With the explosives kit, it sounds like if you let the game run for a month or 2 and you just bought spelunkers using interest to get money you could eventually get to 50% mountain damage from every spelunker meaning you could defeat a mountain no matter the health in 2 spelunkers, is the max 300% thing apply for that too? Does the max 300% apply for the Mapped Destruction? If so why does the counter go past 300, and if not, could you just destroy a mountain with theoretically infinite health with 2 spelunkers? Idk just some thoughts for end game. maybe if you do sit and get 5000% mapping you deserve to wreck mountains like that? (if that's the case though none of the tier 6 PP upgrades matter)
What's the point of the anti-rock turrets if the magnetic shield thing for lasers does it better (across the whole map) did I miss something there it just feels like spending money on something that doesn't damage the mountain when your lasers do and you can spend the money there

TLDR: great game! I love it and definitely wish-listing

  1. Yeah, the overflowing artifacts will be nerfed to something like "Bag: every 5-6 minutes you gain 300-600 gold + 0.1 to 0.4%". So bigger flat, smaller interest. Other than that, besides a cap, not sure what else to do as idling for days will always yield the player massive advantage regardless.
  2. Yup, there will be 1 T6 upg that gives +0.5% dam to ALL dwarves (+0.1% per asc rank). Then the per dwarf type upgrades will each give 5% per, but no longer scale and be gated by asc ranks, so you can only buy 5 of each per 1 asc rank.
  3. Yes at 20 asc rank, since you get +200 PP and start with all upgrades unlocked, it's easy to farm PP and T6 upgrades like mad. But since the game's focus was never the endless mode, I think at that point that's fine. That said, I think I'll cap that to max +100 PP.
  4. You don't like having an army of cyborg dwarves wearing winged rocket slippers on their rhino feet? Huh, strange. But ja, dynamite is currently a bit too forceful, and in the late game the ore can barely stay on the ground, which is a shame since I love seeing big gem piles. Earthquake+guzzler will always be a viable late game strat though. And yeah, gold will be a bit less useless when there are more collectors, ore value increasers, and sinks.
  5. Aye there will be a better number truncation everywhere.
  6. Aye there will be more mithril and dwarf sinks as well.
  7. 300% applies only to spelunker odds. And yeah, Explosives Kit is way too busted atm, but any kind of % damage like spelunkers will likely end up being the best late game damage, unless I cap them, which not sure if I should?
  8. Interesting that you feel that laser shielder aura is enough to alone handle the onslaught of rocks, considering you seemingly played to very high levels? There will be Gyrocopters and Railguns to further mitigate the rocks, since lasers can't and shouldn't handle it all alone (tho they certainly are very strong).
  9. Thank you for detailed feedback! I always appreciate people who have good understanding of mechanics and take their time to spot issues. There will be a steam closed beta soon, so if you wish you can join the discord to maybe help test the game before release.
(+1)

Very fun :) It was a little annoying that dwarves would pickup gold and then carry it towards the big gold pile by the mountain, it would be nice if they just got closer items on the way back so they dont end up getting stunned and dropping it farther away

Any chance for an android port or atleast a scroll bar for prestige upgrades? Can't scroll down to see the rest of the upgrades

(1 edit)

There is a possibility of an android port after a full release on steam, if the game does well. Will be very difficult though, with the performance heavy ore physics.

There is a scroll bar on prestige/artifact screens, but for some reason it doesn't work well on browsers. But you should still be able to click/tap on the bar (not drag the handle, just tap below it) to move it.

(1 edit)

Game runs almost perfectly on my phone after turning off all the particles i just didn't notice a scroll bar. Edit game runs perfectly on android Galaxy S24 using Opera instead of firefox

pp idea: holding down click will automaticlly throw ores(+1cps,+3cps,+5cps)

also an upgrade to where you can autobuy stuff for each class, this upgrade will be in the tier 3 (+miners+runners+scientists, +ect untill you have everything on auto buy)

You mean to automate buying of units? Not sure it's really that kind of game for that feature to be very useful

(+1)

I'm not sure what you mean? You can hold down click to knock ores towards the stash already.

i genuinly didnt know you could do that. my fingers are saved

I can't transfer the save files from the browser to the downloaded game, I just don't see such a button.
pls help

You don't see this Export button? And the two files it downloads, you just put into C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Mountain_Eaters

I have the same issue i did this and nothing happened

Check your browser reaction/settings, usually top right, some popup/button prevents downloads

Plz write release notes in activity section when you update the game on Steam. :)

You're right, I usually do, but yesterday it was such a small hotfix with just a couple of fixes/tweaks that I didn't.

(+1)

What a great game, great pacing. Really enjoyed this for hours.

(1 edit)

What are the requirements for Mapped Destruction? Powder Hall 3 said it would unlock Mapped Destruction, but it’s still showing as runes, and not showing what it would take to unlock.

EDIT: Nevermind, found the prestige upgrade.

It's most likely just me, but it seems as if I can't find a way to reliably save my game. Will there be an option to copy exported data to clipboard, as well as import said data to access my save in the future?

There is no import into browsers due to some GX JS issues I wasn't able to solve. You can only import into desktop. It's unlikely I'll add clipboard soon, since I'm focusing on the full release for steam version, sorry. Strange that you can't reliably save, I'm guessing your browser's cache it at fault, deleting your data on its own.

No, it's fine. Thank you, either way!

What are the prerequisites for getting the option to recruit bulldozers?

(2 edits) (+1)

You first need to buy a T3 prestige upgrade that unlocks Manufactorum building.

Ah, got it. Thank you.

What does it mean if an upgrade is listed with a cost of “N/A”?

It means it's not available in the demo. They're just little teasers. :)

Great game overall and super addicting!

Things that I noticed that might need looking at

-Demolitionists are either too OP or all other towers are just weak end game. That or maybe damage from other sources are registering as demolitionist? Not sure, but they are doing 99% of my damage end game.

-Costs for upgrades are about 5% more than advertised on some upgrades (scientist discount not working?)

-When I bought cluster pick for the first time I had to reload my game due to an insane 1 fps lag, but didnt lag again until far into late game

-Maybe needs a tradeoff upgrade where theres a lower chance to have stones fly out at the cost of turret attack speed or stronger stons to reduce amount of objects on the screen at any one time. Mainly to reduce lag.

Easily this game is one of the best incrementals on the platform and if you can tune end game just right, you will make it even better.

(+1)

-Yeah currently in the late game demodwarves scale the most because of underground mapping infinitely buffing them so much. In the full game every unit will have a similarly powerful way to scale. Eg some may benefit from shrine or meadhall or wizard towers or just other normal upgrades/artifacts yet not added.

-The incorrect cost display was an issue few patches ago where the display was different to the effect of scientists. Were you perhaps playing on an older version?

-Yeah the upgrade panels aren't fully optimized yet and can lag when buying upgrades in the late game. Though if it happened to you early it's a bit stranger.

-The performance is a tough nut to crack, especially since the physics engine can hardly be optimized further. There is still work to be done in other areas such as falling rocks, though reducing their count isn't as simple to make work.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

(+1)

very fun

is this intented?

How did this happen? :o

I just put my cursor near the screen border while hovering over the mountains health. I was in full screen in browser, if that helps.

(+2)

Gonna buy this as soon as it hits steam

was buying laser cannons and got this error message:

Now that's a very obscure weird bug that could happen on old saves. It will be fixed in the next patch. Thanks for reporting!

(1 edit)

living life on easy mode over here. please add abbreveations when possible so overflowing numbers dont overlap like on the main screen or upgrades (yes i see gold gets abbreveated once in millions for upgrades)
EDIT: i believe my gold is in the Quintillions (Qn)

(1 edit)

also since i have so much of everything, i can spam upgrades which SEVERELY lags the game
EDIT: i have no more beautiful gold pile :(

(+1)

Yeah in the late game spamming upgrades as well as just opening the prestige/artifact panels can lag as they aren't very optimized yet.
Gold number truncation is also coming.
And I feel you on the gold pile. It pains me that in the late game you can reach states where there is no more beautiful massive gem pile.

(+1)

This is one of the best games in this genre I've seen in a long time. I'm looking forward to the Steam demo and then the release. I wish you great luck and success in development👍

True. Thanks for reporting. It should be fixed with the newest patch 0.5.2.0

I am having an issue with the manufactorum. Crashes every time I click it.

Are you on the most recent patch? This should be fixed in the latest hotfix.

woah! I have been gone for a few months, things have changed for the better, I got to update my review next update

Huh. Game crashes when I click on the manufactorum, didn't last prestige. Uncaught exception, here's the error text:

It should be fixed now hopefully.

It is, you're the Man!

I believe this would happen if you didn't have laboratory placed when you clicked on manufcatorum, so hopefully it's fixed with the latest patch.

Thanks for reporting!

the Khazad Greathold is one pixel off the ground

What sorcery is this lol!? Not sure why this would happen. Can't replicate it. Were you perhaps playing on browser and the resolution/window was off and toggling F4 on and off would've fixed it?

whatever you did fixed it

(1 edit) (+3)

I liked your game I've played Similar games to this but this is my favorite wall destroyer so far the prestige abilities actually seem to help and the pacing is ok. EDIT* spelling mistakes

Awesome to hear. Thanks for feedback!

(+1)

This game was more fun than I would expect! I really enjoyed it. The only problem is there is no challenge in the game. I understand it's an idle game and they kinda work like that. However for a PC game people might expect something a little bit more challenging. In demo it's kinda lacking that, only spend gold and wait could be a bit boring if it makes sense. Well it was fun for me to maximize the income/damage and try different stuffs during run but not really wanted to go for a second run. I read that there will be damage check and bosses in full release, that's actually sounds exciting. I hope it can bring some deeper mechanics and give a reason to reset game and play again. I already wishlisted and will get the full game on Steam. Wish you the best of luck!

(1 edit) (+1)

You're not wrong, incremental games tend to not really have a difficulty/challenge or game-over aspect per se. It's more about casual chill numbers go up vibe. However they can be challenging and have room for expression/skill if you wish to beat them in most efficient/fastest manner. Or perhaps obtain difficult steam achievements. Or self imposed rules or challenges. Or just enjoy seeing how far you can get in the endless mod with all the upgrades. But yeah there will be a couple prestige/damage checks, some likely in a chill way where if you can't beat the check it's not necessarily hard game over, but you do not get a unique artifact which is required to unlock a "last" boss/ending and achievements.

Thank you for the feedback and wishlist! :)

(+1)

Wonderful game i love it

(-1)

i just want to ask but what is the benefit to downloading the game over just playing on this website.

(+1)

"Game can slow down on browsers when there are a lot of physics objects on screen in the late game. You can disable shine shader and particles in the options, which should help. But sadly there's only so much that can be done for browsers. Game runs way better on desktop."

cool thanks for the reply

I've played this wanting  to take things to a extreme but I've run into a unique problem: the amount of dwarf housing is covered by t he ever increasing cost

Hah that's quite a problem to have. I will make it so the number display is also shown in the description panel so that it's still visible even then.

After nearly a week of mostly leaving it running while at work i have all* upgrades.
Past 60somthing I never seemed to have enough AA but finally got over the mithrill shortage.
Cheapest unit i can get (Demo) costs 5.3M
Next Runesmith is 14.1M, laser is
16.2M, turret is 21.1M and bulldozer is 16.3M.
(I have no luck enchantments on the cannon since its 7.9M but all other enchantments are maxed.)
Most annoying thing is currently the mountain vacuums up about 1/5th to 1/4th of the treasure before it even touches the ground.

Cool to see! :)
Yeah it's a constant struggle to balance the treasure/collectors/mountain-reclaiming. I'd love to see huge gem piles even in the late game, but it seems impossible to do with how the game plays...

(5 edits)

Very addictive for a hands-off game! Done a few runs to level 50 before resetting. Eagerly waiting for the full release down the track on Steam.

It feels that past level 50 the constant bombardment of falling stones is overwhelming currently (Though may be because of the demo and available buildings). Even several well upgraded AR defense cannons coupled with vehicle turrets and several layers of rock destroying lasers covering the top I feel kind of resigned to watching the runners get thumped constantly from the storm of rocks and other things. Dodge chance, shields and beard powers only go so far.

It's still kind of fun to watch though!

Yeah currently even with rocket salvo and laser shielder aura it can get too much or too costly to upkeep with the bombardment. I will certainly be adding more defenses, but it's a challenge to keep it balanced well.
Thanks for feedback!

(+1)

I pushed this game to it's current limits and there's a lot of balancing needed for end game.  Mithril and souls are too hard to come by to max the upgrades.  I still haven't maxed everything due to this.  The balancing issue is clear though as the upgrades need 8 mithril and 6000g.  I'm hitting 50,000,000 gold before I get those 8 mithril at this point as it takes so long to progress a single level now.  Maybe the mithril and souls you have left over when you prestige could carry over into the next runs?

Great game though.  Fresh and fun concept and I like the fact that it is an actual idler that doesn't need constant baby sitting (except for the start, and early mid game when you are rapidly farming artifacts)

Indeed, there will be more ways to obtain mithril and souls, and more ways to spend gold (all the upgrades will also scale higher). But I still like mithril/souls being a limiting factor that prevents you from obtaining every upgrade too early.
Thanks for the feedback!

Does mithril get much, much rarer past some point, or does it stop popping up without an artifact's help? I haven't found a single piece in my gameplay for a while. Hope this isn't a bother to answer I'm just confused

(+1)

Atm mithril mainly drops from killing dens and in the very late game less of them die mainly because den's HP scales of % of mountain's HP, which can get exponentially/absurdly high after a point. But I will be adding more ways of obtaining mithril, as well as having a tiny drop chance from normal damage.

(7 edits) (+1)

I hope you finish this game so I can see new dwarf boys I find them so cute I wonder what the new building will do when your done thank you for replying :)

I can't believe how fun a glorified screensaver can be. I put quite a few hours into this!
Some feedback:
-Sometimes there is a lagspike but it runs great otherwise.
-I don't like how 7 miners in mandatory to progress with building stuff. At least let me get rid of them so I can have a build without them
-Ballista is pretty much mandatory and the only thing you need as it is the only thing good with dealing bases and has very high damage. Maybe it should be more anti-base focused or give homing upgrades to others.
-Lasers could have an upgrade that makes them anti projectile focused at the cost of damage. In the postgame it is the only semi viable AA

-I think the lagspike might be due to the game autosaving in the late game. Not sure what to do about that.
-Soon the 7 miners won't be mandatory as I will rework the progression.
-There will definitely be more AA options in the future.
Thanks for feedback! :)

Hey I am running this on a absolute brick 2000's laptop and running all upgreades past lvl 200 if you are interested in any metrics. Great game and happy to help if my back end has anything helpful to you.

(1 edit)

Hey thanks for the feedback, though I'm not sure what metrics would really help me. I just hope the game is running well for you at that point? Hopefully you get 60+ fps still with everything disabled in the settings? Game is CPU bound due to physics simulation, so as long as that isn't a complete potato it should be fine. Though there must still be work done to optimize stuff further.

(+1)

sorry if this has been asked a bajillion times, is there an estimated full release yet? Really loving the game

Thank you! Not sure yet, I'll probably have a steam demo ready in the next few weeks, and the full release hopefully in a couple of months.
