A downloadable game

Earth has been bled dry, so now humanity has turned to the stars for materials.

In this game you pilot a spaceship sent into the asteroid belt to test ideas of harvesting ore from asteroids. Shoot asteroids to harvest their ore. Use ore to refuel or repair the ship.

This game was made for the PSII Game Jam with the theme "Retro Remake". Thus, this game is based on the game "Asteroids".

I Completed 3 Optional Challenges:

Physics:the asteroids, lasers, and player all use physics.

Procedural Generation:Asteroids spawn with random models, materials, and come from random directions at random times, so it has procedural generation.

Save/Load Mechanics:It saves your high scores to a JSON file, meaning there are save/load mechanics.

The game is made in Unity.

Sound effects are obtained from Pixabay,  the fonts are "Quantico" and "Geo" from Google fonts, and all other assets are my own, including models, sprites, textures, and the title music, which I made in Ableton Live.

Controls:

WASD: Walk

Mouse: Turn/Steer

Left Shift: Interact  (You can rebind this one)

E: Shoot  (You can rebind this one)

Requirements:

Windows

Mouse and Keyboard

Notes:

I'm aware that there are probably a few glitches, but I haven't noticed any game ruining ones. If you run into a glitch, it's possible that I may revisit the game and fix and polish some things. I also apologise that you have to download it, but unfortunately Unity's HDRP shader is incompatible with WebP for some reason so I can't have it be played in the browser. I have a couple bigger games in progress, but they are long term projects that might not be posted on Itch, so my Itch is mainly just for small projects and game jams. Also, there's a chance your windows defender might act up. Don't worry, this is not a virus, windows defender kind of just doesn't like running random files it doesn't know that you just downloaded off of Itch. The only real effect on your files is that it creates a save file.

Have Fun!
