THE ORGAN
THE ORGAN (LISTEN)
The architectural foundation of this album is the Stiehr-Mockers (1836) pipe organ of Sermersheim, a city close to Strasbourg, in France. Unlike the clinical, synthetic presets found in common marketplaces, this is a high-fidelity reconstruction of 19th-century Alsatian french craftsmanship and let you hear the breath of the pipes.
Captured through the Jeux d’Orgues sampling tradition, the sound retains the mechanical breath, pneumatic authority, and harmonic "imperfections" of a physical cathedral instrument.
By avoiding 8-bit artifice in favor of samples of authentic tracker-action acoustics, this suite provides the structural "stone" required for serious atmospheric medieval fantasy.
The use of stops like the Nazard and Tierce creates a "nasal," ancient color that is the DNA of authentic medieval fantasy.Unlike the "smooth" English trumpets, or the clarity of the German "prinzipal", the French reeds have a "snarl" and "bite" that cuts through the stone of a cathedral - but, because the album has a more "low-fi" intimate and poetic nature, these I gonna use in a next opportunity.
