Working on a new version

This is a very old game and it needs an update something that can be a much more complete experience. I've been struggling for years to make a UI that really fits this game and so far I've had a lot bad luck finding a good UI style. And really stopped working on it because the code is abismal to work with, so terrible I started dreading working it.

I was also avoiding specific things in design that I think would probably make the game more compelling. All good reasons I think to actually make another attempt or start a whole new game with some of the same fundamentals.

I have a lot of features and things that really were not ready for release. So they are still in dev but pretty much abandoned and didn't work. This is kind of what happens when you go down a path or avoid specific things for the wrong reasons. It's one thing if there is a gameplay mechanic you want but don't have the skills and have to find an exceptable alternative sometimes those concessions can work to the games benefit. I unfortunately specifically avoided things not that I couldn't do them but in an attempt to keep scope and work down.

One big one was not having unique items. So while I didn't add unique items or parts with unique stats I went with generic ones for everything. In addition to that I also kept the repairs generic and instead of persistence with specific destroyed parts I simply used a number to indicate how many parts were damaged. That basically killed the intended aspect of the building and repair and even the premise of the game. I think revisiting these choices are necessary to try and make the game closer to its original vision.

Wish me luck, and go play some games
